Benefits of Rose Quartz

As all crystals do, the rose quartz carries its very own energy characteristics, making it effective in specific areas of life. This particular quartz is most appreciated for its purposes in aiding attraction, restoring inner peace and assisting in beautification. As can be expected from a soft pink crystal like rose quartz, the most common benefit of this substance is attracting romantic love and strengthening existing love, even among platonic relationships. Placing rose quartz in the relationship area of the feng shui bagua is the most effective way to release this energy, and it can also unleash the aphrodisiac capabilities of the quartz.

In addition to romantic love and external relationships, rose quartz is beneficial in the realm of repairing emotional damage or propensity against self-love. Rose quartz is said to dissolve emotional wounds, fears and resentments and create an overall feeling of love, personal fulfillment and contentment. Rose quartz can also promote bonding between mothers and newborn children, increase appreciation for beauty of all types, prevent nightmares and fear of the dark, protect against gossip and can even possibly be used as a cure for colic or feeding difficulties in infants.

Q&A Sunday: The Relationship Area of the Feng Shui Bagua

Can you tell me more about the relationship area of the bagua?

The feng shui bagua map is a tool we use in feng shui. It’s often called an energy map, because there are different energetic areas of your life that correspond to a mandala that is overlaid on your home.

One of the most popular areas of the bagua map is called Kun position, usually represented by the color pink. It’s generally referred to as the relationship area or the love corner, or sometimes marriage. Based on these names, I’m sure you can understand why so many people are curious about it!

What a lot of people don’t know is that the bagua areas, called guas, have many different nuances and layered meanings that relate back to the I Ching and the five elements. Kun position is not only your romantic relationships, but also the mother element, the feminine principle, and mother earth. It’s related to yin earth, or soft earth, like sand.

Kun is a great area to work on when it comes to love and relationships. It also has to do with having love for yourself, mothering yourself, and healing your relationship to your mother, whatever that means for you. If you’re interested in working with Kun, I would encourage you to explore that mother element or feminine principle in your life. Some ways to explore this using feng shui are to sit in this area of your home, or bring some attention to it. Know that doing this is working in subtle ways to heal your love for yourself, your feminine side, your relationship with your mother, and your relationship with mother earth. This concept trickles down in so many ways, and it’s quite a deep teaching.

Q&A Sunday: The Best Place for a Feng Shui Plant

Where is the best place to put a plant for feng shui?

Two of my favorite places to put a plant based on feng shui are Kun (relationships) or Xun (wealth) in your bedroom. These are two of the most popular areas of the feng shui bagua that people love to work with, and I recommend starting in your bedroom because any changes there affect you the most.

Plants are really having a moment right now! Working with plants is beautiful because they’re living things that you can cultivate, so they encourage you to invest in and take care of something outside of yourself. They also represent growth, vitality, and healing. Another thing that’s really great about plants is that you can pay attention to how they’re growing, and what that represents. For example, I have a money tree that I got about ten years ago that started out just a couple of feet tall. Now it’s almost as tall as me! It’s reassuring to see a tangible representation of my own abundance and growth, not only financially but also spiritually.

Xun is connected to wealth and money, but also to how prosperous and worthy you feel. Many people have a great deal of money, but that doesn’t necessarily bring fulfillment or feelings of abundance. When you feel worthy, and recognize that you are a treasure, then you can truly magnetize and attract abundant things to you. You can feel like you have more than enough, which is really what Xun is about. This is a great area to activate with a plant.

The other area that people are most interested in is Kun, or relationships. Most people think that activating Kun will help them attract a partner. That’s true, but there are so many layers to working with this gua. It’s also related to femininity, the mother, and taking care of yourself. You might want to activate that area to invite in a romantic partnership, but you might also want to deepen or heal your existing partnership. Maybe you’ve recently come out of a relationship, and you need to work on healing your relationship with yourself — that’s also related to Kun. Other reasons you might want to work with this gua are wanting to connect more to the earth, or to heal your relationship with your mother. If any of these intentions resonates, this could be a great place for a plant!
